Settlers Rest Verified venue

Hunter Valley · 230 km
5.0 / 5 (37 reviews)
from $12,000

Settlers Rest is a premium wedding venue and expansive accommodation estate in the heart of the Hunter Valley. The property spans around 550 hectares of picturesque country land, offering rolling pastures, rustic trees and open skies as your backdrop.

Settlers Rest feels like a hidden gem you stumble upon rather than a conventional wedding venue. When I visited, I was blown away by the sheer size of the place – it’s set on roughly 550 hectares of rolling pastures in Howes Valley. Picture long stretches of open fields, giant gum trees and a big, open sky above you. It manages to feel both secluded and easy‑going at the same time. There are four different ceremony spots dotted around the property, each framed by rustic trees and neat lawns, so you get that “in the bush” vibe without giving up the polished touches. What really sets Settlers Rest apart, though, is how flexible it is. There are three reception areas, so you could do a cosy sit‑down dinner in the pavilion or throw a big party under a marquee on the grass.

They let you bring in your favourite caterer or go with their in‑house team, and you can stock the bar yourself, which is great if you’re particular about your menu. There’s accommodation for about 30 people on site, plus camping or motorhome spots if you want to make a weekend of it. The biggest draw for me, though, is that when you book Settlers Rest, you get the whole place to yourself for the weekend. There’s something special about knowing there won’t be another wedding happening next door. You and your guests can wander the grounds, have a relaxed welcome dinner, even recover with brunch the next morning without ever leaving the property. If your ideal wedding is tucked away in nature but still comfortable, with plenty of space and privacy to do things your way, I can’t recommend Settlers Rest enough.

Wildwood Kangaroo Valley Verified venue

South Coast · 160 km
5.0 / 5 (161 reviews)

Wildwood sits on 100 acres of pristine subtropical rainforest atop a sandstone bluff surrounded by national parks.

Wildwood Kangaroo Valley feels like a true escape into the wilderness. Perched on a sandstone bluff and surrounded by 100 acres of subtropical rainforest, it’s the kind of place where birdsong, filtered sunlight, and the scent of gum trees greet you as soon as you arrive. The whole atmosphere is calm and immersive – like stepping into a hidden pocket of nature that’s just yours for the day. The ceremony spot sits right at the edge of the escarpment with sweeping valley views in the background. It’s dramatic in the best way, but still feels grounded and intimate. After the ceremony, there are forest paths to explore for photos – it’s all very relaxed and organic.

The team really encourages couples to lean into their own story, and there’s a clear focus on authenticity and a sense of adventure. Sustainability is a big part of the venue’s ethos too. Catering is locally sourced and paddock-to-plate, and there’s on-site accommodation at Wildwood House so the wedding party can stay together before and after the big day – which makes everything that little bit easier and more connected. The venue’s flexible setup is another strong point. Whether it’s just the two of you or a bigger crowd, you can bring in your own suppliers or go with their curated list. It suits couples who want that feeling of being out in the wild, but with thoughtful details and a touch of refinement.

Wandarra Homestead Verified venue

Central West · Mudgee · 290 km
5.0 / 5 (37 reviews)

Wandarra Homestead might be smaller than some other properties on this list, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in charm. The restored homestead, which is perched on 25 acres of hillside overlooking Elephant Mountain, offers elopement packages for up to 8 guests. There are multiple ceremony spots — a rustic stone shed, rose garden or a sun-drenched lawn — and you can celebrate afterward in the speakeasy bar “Grandma’s Tipsy”, or use the private transfers included in the package to enjoy a celebration meal at a nearby winery of your choice.

Because the guest list tops out at 8 people, Wandarra weddings feel more like a special family gathering than a big event. You can take your time with drinks and charcuterie, share stories around the bar and watch the sunset over rolling paddocks without feeling rushed. It’s also BYO friendly, giving you control over everything from the catering to the playlist.

One of the best parts of Wandarra is the sense of tranquillity you’ll experience. Being on top of a hill means the views go on forever, and the combination of historic charm and modern comforts makes it a refreshing retreat from city life. If you’re dreaming of a petite farm wedding that feels like a weekend away with loved ones, Wandarra is a lovely pick.

Turon Gates Verified venue

Central Tablelands · 220 km
4.6 / 5 (285 reviews)

Turon Gates is a rustic retreat nestled beside a trout stream in the Capertee Valley. Surrounded by bushland and grazing kangaroos, the property exudes tranquillity.

Turon Gates feels like stepping into your own private slice of wilderness – but with just enough comfort to make it feel like a proper celebration. Tucked beside a trout stream and surrounded by bushland, it’s the kind of place where you can have a barefoot ceremony by the water or say your vows under tall gum trees with cicadas buzzing in the background. It’s all very relaxed and personal – no cookie-cutter setups here. Guests can settle into cosy log cabins, glamping tents, or roll in with their own caravans, which gives it that laid-back, festival-style atmosphere. The whole weekend ends up feeling more like a shared adventure than just a one-day event.

One of the best things about Turon Gates is how much it lets you switch off. There’s limited mobile reception, campfires to gather around at night, and an unreal view of the stars – the Milky Way really shows off out there. At the same time, it’s not completely off-grid. There’s a marquee for the reception, catering options, and a team that’s there to help things run smoothly. For couples who love nature and want a wedding that’s both immersive and full of heart – without sacrificing the key comforts – Turon Gates hits the sweet spot.

Seclusions Blue Mountains

Seclusions Blue Mountains

4.9 / 5 (180 reviews)

Seclusions is a 20‑acre wedding venue where rustic meets elegance. An amphitheatre overlooking the Blue Mountains provides the ceremony site, with a rustic barn for drinks and an open‑air pavilion for receptions.

Seclusions Blue Mountains strikes a really nice balance between rustic charm and sweeping mountain views. The outdoor amphitheatre is a standout – it looks out over rolling ridges and distant peaks, which makes for a pretty unforgettable spot to say your vows. After the ceremony, there’s a natural flow to the evening: guests head to the barn for canapés, then into the open-air pavilion for dinner and dancing under the stars. There are six log cabins scattered around the property, giving your wedding party their own little village to settle into.

And yes, there’s even a hot tub – perfect for winding down once the celebrations are done. One of the things that makes Seclusions such a solid option is the all-weather setup. Logistically, the venue is surprisingly convenient. The boat departs from King Street Wharf in Darling Harbour – close to hotels and public transport – and can accommodate up to 260 guests seated or 480 cocktail style. After the cruise, guests disembark right in the heart of the city for after‑parties or overnight stays. For couples who want a quintessentially Sydney experience with luxurious finishes, Clearview offers a show‑stopping option.

Apollonia

Apollonia

Sydney · Circular Quay · 1 km
4.6 / 5 (290 reviews)

For couples seeking an intimate, atmospheric celebration, Apollonia feels like a secret world. Descend the staircase into a candle‑lit space filled with Sicilian charm – there’s no natural light, only the glow of candles and vintage fixtures reflecting off sandstone walls. The bar’s design draws inspiration from The Godfather, making it perfect for film lovers or anyone who wants a venue with character.

Because it’s located beneath the historic Hinchcliff House, Apollonia has a rich story to tell. The subterranean room retains original hand‑cut sandstone and brickwork, complemented by plush leather seating and communal tables. Cocktails are crafted with Italian spirits and house‑made infusions, and the food menu features dishes meant for sharing. Couples often combine a ceremony at a nearby harbour lookout with a reception here, turning the evening into a progressive celebration.

The venue’s small size is a plus for those looking to host a micro‑wedding or even an engagement party. With space for around 60 guests, your event will feel cosy and personal. And being in Circular Quay means guests can arrive by ferry or train and enjoy Sydney’s harbour views before heading underground. For a wedding that’s unique, cinematic and deeply romantic, Apollonia is a standout choice.
