About the Refectory Banquet Hall
The Refectory is the grand banquet hall at the heart of the University of Sydney's Holme Building, with eight-metre ceilings, tall French windows, heritage wood panelling and polished timber floors. It is one of the most distinctive heritage interiors in Sydney, and within walking distance of the CBD.
The hall seats up to 220 guests for a banquet and hosts up to 500 cocktail-style. Polished timber floors that double as a dance floor, an in-house PA system and data projectors make it equally suited to a formal black-tie wedding, a relaxed banquet, or a ceremony plus reception in the same room.
The space is operated and catered by HostCo, the official events team for the University of Sydney. That means a single point of contact for catering, beverages, styling, AV and the run sheet on the day. Couples can pair the Refectory with the adjacent Cottage Lawns for an outdoor ceremony followed by an indoor reception in the same building.
