Overview
Ever After Weddings (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at everafterweddings.com.au — a free Australian directory of wedding venues and vendors. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and your rights under Australian privacy law (the Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles).
By using the site or submitting a form, you agree to this policy. If anything is unclear, get in touch at [email protected].
1. What we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us, plus standard technical data your browser sends when visiting any website.
From our forms. When you submit our contact form or a venue-enquiry form, we collect:
- Your name (and your partner’s name, if you choose to provide it)
- Email address
- Phone number (optional)
- Your wedding date (optional)
- Guest count and indicative budget (optional, on the multi-venue enquiry form)
- The free-text message you write
- The page URL you submitted from
- For the multi-venue enquiry form: the list of venues you selected
Automatically. Like most websites, we log your IP address, browser type, device, referring page and timestamp in standard server access logs and through our hosting and CDN providers.
We do not ask for, store or transmit payment information — bookings and payments happen directly between you and the venue or vendor.
2. How we use it
We use the information you provide to:
- Forward your venue enquiry to the venues you selected, with you CC’d so you receive their reply directly
- Reply to general questions sent through the contact page or vendor-service pages (Wedding DJ Sydney, Wedding MC Sydney, etc.)
- Send you a confirmation email after a form submission, so you have a record of what was sent
- Protect the site from spam and abuse using Cloudflare Turnstile
- Improve the site (aggregate, anonymous traffic patterns — not individual profiling)
We will never sell your personal information, and we will never share it with venues or vendors you didn’t choose.
3. When we share your information
We share your information in three specific scenarios:
- Venue enquiries. When you submit a venue-enquiry form, we forward your details to only the venue(s) you selected. The venue then contacts you directly. You will be CC’d on that email so you can see exactly what was sent.
- Service providers. We use trusted third parties (listed in section 4) to host the site, deliver emails, and verify forms. These providers handle data on our behalf under their own privacy policies and contractual obligations.
- Legal obligations. If required by Australian law, court order or regulator (extremely rare), we will comply.
4. Third-party services we use
The following providers process data on our behalf. Click any link for their own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare — CDN, DNS and bot protection (including Turnstile verification on forms)
- SendGrid (Twilio) — transactional email delivery
- Google — web fonts (Google Fonts), embedded maps, and aggregate analytics
- Our hosting provider for the static web server
5. Cookies and tracking
We use a small number of cookies to make the site work and understand how it’s used:
- Essential cookies set by Cloudflare Turnstile to verify form submitters aren’t bots. These last for a single browsing session.
- Preference cookies stored by your browser to remember directory filters and venues you’ve hearted, so they reappear on your next visit. These stay until you clear your browser data.
- Aggregate analytics via privacy-respecting analytics tools that record page views and broad geographic origin (country/state level), not personally identifying information.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings — the site will still work, though some saved preferences will be lost.
6. How long we keep your data
Enquiry and contact form submissions are retained for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up, then archived. We typically remove records older than 24 months unless we’re actively in conversation with you.
Standard server logs are rotated every 30–90 days depending on the provider.
You can request earlier deletion at any time — see section 7.
7. Your rights
Under Australian privacy law you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that’s inaccurate or out of date
- Request deletion of your personal information (subject to any legal retention requirements)
- Opt out of any non-essential communication
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we’ve handled your data improperly — see oaic.gov.au
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] from the address we have on file. We’ll respond within 30 days.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. Form submissions are transmitted over encrypted connections and forwarded via authenticated APIs to our email provider. We restrict access to enquiry data to the small number of people who need it to operate Ever After Weddings.
No web service can guarantee 100% security — if we ever suffer a data incident that could affect you, we’ll notify you in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage or via email if we have your address on file.
