Settlers Rest Verified venue

Hunter Valley · 230 km
5.0 / 5 (37 reviews)
from $12,000

Settlers Rest is a premium wedding venue and expansive accommodation estate in the heart of the Hunter Valley. The property spans around 550 hectares of picturesque country land, offering rolling pastures, rustic trees and open skies as your backdrop.

Settlers Rest feels like a hidden gem you stumble upon rather than a conventional wedding venue. When I visited, I was blown away by the sheer size of the place – it’s set on roughly 550 hectares of rolling pastures in Howes Valley. Picture long stretches of open fields, giant gum trees and a big, open sky above you. It manages to feel both secluded and easy‑going at the same time. There are four different ceremony spots dotted around the property, each framed by rustic trees and neat lawns, so you get that “in the bush” vibe without giving up the polished touches. What really sets Settlers Rest apart, though, is how flexible it is. There are three reception areas, so you could do a cosy sit‑down dinner in the pavilion or throw a big party under a marquee on the grass.

They let you bring in your favourite caterer or go with their in‑house team, and you can stock the bar yourself, which is great if you’re particular about your menu. There’s accommodation for about 30 people on site, plus camping or motorhome spots if you want to make a weekend of it. The biggest draw for me, though, is that when you book Settlers Rest, you get the whole place to yourself for the weekend. There’s something special about knowing there won’t be another wedding happening next door. You and your guests can wander the grounds, have a relaxed welcome dinner, even recover with brunch the next morning without ever leaving the property. If your ideal wedding is tucked away in nature but still comfortable, with plenty of space and privacy to do things your way, I can’t recommend Settlers Rest enough.

La Vigna Estate Verified venue

Hunter Valley · 165 km
4.7 / 5 (42 reviews)

A Tuscan-style estate in the Hunter Valley with a sandstone chapel among the vines, olive groves and alfresco receptions — exclusive use for up to 110.

La Vigna Estate feels like you’ve somehow landed in Tuscany — but without leaving the Hunter Valley. It’s got this warm, Mediterranean vibe, with a sandstone chapel tucked among the vines, olive trees lining the paths, and a layout that’s perfect for moving from one beautiful spot to the next. You can have your ceremony in the chapel, then wander through the olive grove to either a poolside reception or a marquee on the lawn — both options feel super relaxed but still elegant.

Wandarra Homestead Verified venue

Central West · Mudgee · 290 km
5.0 / 5 (37 reviews)

Wandarra Homestead might be smaller than some other properties on this list, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in charm. The restored homestead, which is perched on 25 acres of hillside overlooking Elephant Mountain, offers elopement packages for up to 8 guests. There are multiple ceremony spots — a rustic stone shed, rose garden or a sun-drenched lawn — and you can celebrate afterward in the speakeasy bar “Grandma’s Tipsy”, or use the private transfers included in the package to enjoy a celebration meal at a nearby winery of your choice.

Because the guest list tops out at 8 people, Wandarra weddings feel more like a special family gathering than a big event. You can take your time with drinks and charcuterie, share stories around the bar and watch the sunset over rolling paddocks without feeling rushed. It’s also BYO friendly, giving you control over everything from the catering to the playlist.

One of the best parts of Wandarra is the sense of tranquillity you’ll experience. Being on top of a hill means the views go on forever, and the combination of historic charm and modern comforts makes it a refreshing retreat from city life. If you’re dreaming of a petite farm wedding that feels like a weekend away with loved ones, Wandarra is a lovely pick.

Mayfield Vineyard

Mayfield Vineyard

Central West · Orange · 250 km
4.2 / 5 (51 reviews)

Mayfield Vineyard proves you can have a farm‑style wedding and still enjoy all the perks of wine country. The estate includes a 100‑year‑old homestead and several cottages that sleep 28 guests, plus event spaces ranging from a lakefront lawn to a glass‑walled reception hall known as The Grove. You can tailor your day to suit: perhaps a lakeside ceremony followed by cocktails under the willows before heading inside for dinner and dancing.

One of Mayfield’s charms is how it blends rustic elements with a polished finish. Geese wander along the lake, vineyards line the hills and there are arboretum paths to explore between courses. Because they offer BYO catering and bar options, you’re free to bring in your favourite wine or local beer and design a menu that reflects your tastes.

If you and your guests love the idea of staying on site, Mayfield’s cottages make that possible. Spend a few days exploring nearby Orange, enjoy a recovery picnic by the lake or simply relax on the wide verandas watching the sunset. For couples who want the warmth of a farm wedding with a dash of vineyard sophistication, Mayfield strikes the perfect balance.

Seclusions Blue Mountains

Seclusions Blue Mountains

Blue Mountains · 175 km
4.9 / 5 (180 reviews)

Seclusions is a 20‑acre wedding venue where rustic meets elegance. An amphitheatre overlooking the Blue Mountains provides the ceremony site, with a rustic barn for drinks and an open‑air pavilion for receptions.

Seclusions Blue Mountains strikes a really nice balance between rustic charm and sweeping mountain views. The outdoor amphitheatre is a standout – it looks out over rolling ridges and distant peaks, which makes for a pretty unforgettable spot to say your vows. After the ceremony, there’s a natural flow to the evening: guests head to the barn for canapés, then into the open-air pavilion for dinner and dancing under the stars. There are six log cabins scattered around the property, giving your wedding party their own little village to settle into.

And yes, there’s even a hot tub – perfect for winding down once the celebrations are done. One of the things that makes Seclusions such a solid option is the all-weather setup. The barn can easily double as a ceremony space if the weather turns, and the pavilion has retractable walls to keep everyone comfortable no matter what. The owners only host one wedding at a time and are hands-on in the best way, so the whole experience feels relaxed, personal, and really well looked after. For couples who want those epic mountain views without having to go too far from Sydney, Seclusions ticks a lot of boxes – beautiful setting, thoughtful layout, and a genuinely welcoming vibe.

Rea Rea Lodge

Rea Rea Lodge

South Coast · 165 km
5.0 / 5 (5 reviews)

A secluded 87-acre bush retreat in Kangaroo Valley with escarpment views, a pool-deck ceremony and open-air dining — designed for intimate weddings of around 30.

Tucked away in the wild beauty of Kangaroo Valley, Rea Rea Lodge feels like a true escape into nature. It’s the kind of place where the backdrop does most of the heavy lifting — imagine saying your vows on a pool deck with towering cliffs behind you, then sitting down to dinner outside at a rustic open-air kitchen while the stars come out overhead.

The vibe here is very much small and serene. It’s ideal for weddings of around 30 guests, and everything about it is designed to keep the focus on connection, not noise. There’s a 10 pm curfew and they ask for non-amplified music, but honestly, that just adds to the peaceful, unplugged feel of the whole place.
