About 25 minutes from the Brisbane CBD, Walkabout Creek sits inside D’Aguilar National Park, looking out over Enoggera Reservoir from among the treetops. It is rainforest without the long drive, which explains a good deal of its appeal for city guests. Vows can be exchanged on an outdoor stage above the water, on the lawn, or on the covered deck, and one point is worth knowing early: the venue is not exclusive use, with two self-contained reception rooms able to run two functions at once, though only one ceremony is held per afternoon.

The venue accommodates up to 204 guests, and the ceremony options scale to match. The Lakeview stage above the reservoir has tiered bench seating for 70, The Lawn is the largest at up to 200 and comes with 48 white Americana chairs, and The Deck, covered and high-ceilinged with open sides over the treetops, creek and animal sanctuary, seats 200 and doubles as the wet-weather ceremony choice. Indoors, the Banksia Room takes 40 to 130 seated, with the smaller Ferntree Room and its working fireplace also available.

Catering is in-house, opening with grazing boards over pre-dinner drinks and running to plated, banquet, buffet or cocktail service. A 4.5 hour beverage package covers beer, wine and non-alcoholics, with a cash bar operating during location photographs. An allocated wedding coordinator sees the ceremony and the start of the reception through before handing over to an event supervisor. Long timber tables with linen napkins, cross-back chairs, glassware, cutlery and crockery, lantern centrepieces, cake knife and table, gift table, seating-plan easel, sound system, wireless microphone and parking are all included, and there is no accommodation on site. The combination of national park surrounds, a short drive from the city and inclusive in-house catering makes Walkabout Creek an outstanding rainforest wedding venue.
