Perched 1,100 metres above sea level on a secluded plateau at the centre of an 8,000-acre property, Spicers Peak Lodge is about as far from a function room as the Scenic Rim gets. Cedar and bluestone, floor-to-ceiling glass and mountains in every direction set the tone, and the lodge is offered exclusive-use, so there are no other guests and no passing traffic. Ceremonies can be held anywhere in the maintained grounds, on the lawn with panoramic mountain views or beside the bluestone fireplace.
The lodge accommodates up to 100 guests. Ceremonies are set for up to 60, and The Terrace seats the same number outdoors at one long table with French oak crossback chairs, warmed by a fireplace and outdoor heating for the cool that comes with the altitude. The Lounge is the architecturally designed indoor option for up to 40, its floor-to-ceiling windows framing the mountains and the sunset. Larger celebrations move to a marquee on the lodge grounds, which takes up to 100 under the stars.
The Peak, the lodge’s awarded restaurant, handles catering on per-person dining packages, paired with a five or six hour premium beverage package, with service ceasing by 11pm. An on-site wedding coordinator is included in every venue package, as are 60 crossback chairs, a signing table, a portable PA with wireless microphone, table linen and napkins, personalised menus, gift and cake tables and candles. Accommodation sleeps up to 26 guests across ten suites and two private lodges, and all 13 rooms must be booked on the wedding night, so the guest list and the room list are settled in one conversation. The combination of altitude, exclusive use and awarded in-house dining makes Spicers Peak Lodge an outstanding luxury retreat wedding venue.
