Sails has been a Hastings Street restaurant for far longer than it has been a wedding venue, and the kitchen and the cellar still come first. What it offers couples is a beachfront setting with an exclusive patio looking straight out over Noosa Main Beach, panoramic and unfussy, asking for almost no styling at all. One point is worth settling early: the venue states that it does not host ceremonies, and it does not offer stand-up cocktail receptions. Sails is a seated reception venue and is unapologetic about being exactly that.
Seated numbers for the full restaurant are confirmed on enquiry rather than published. Most couples take the whole beachfront restaurant on an exclusive-use basis, patio included, and let the afternoon run from drinks with the surf in view into a long dinner at the table. Smaller groups have a second option in the Private Dining Room, which seats up to 22 in the Sails Wine Bar beside the climate-controlled cellar, a closer and quieter setting with the bottles in plain sight.
Catering is in-house only, built on modern Australian menus by Executive Chef Paul Leete using seasonal produce, and the wine list is drawn across three working cellars. There is no accommodation on site, though the restaurant sits in the middle of Noosa Heads. With the ceremony held elsewhere, the day arrives at Sails for the part it does best, a long seated meal at the edge of the sand. The combination of a beachfront patio, exclusive use and a kitchen and cellar with a genuine reputation makes Sails Restaurant Noosa an outstanding wedding reception venue.
