Spread across 4.2 hectares of grounds on the Gold Coast, the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort is known first for its award-winning wedding chapel, a non-denominational building whose floor-to-ceiling glass facade opens straight out over the Coomera River. The view takes care of most of the decorating. Couples can marry in the chapel, fitted with ivory pews, a glass-top registry table and silk floral arrangements, or outdoors on the Fountain Terrace, an open-air setting overlooking the resort’s iconic fountain.
The resort has 251 guest rooms and suites, so most of a guest list can stay on site. The chapel seats 80 for a ceremony and includes a mezzanine that photographers put to good use, while the Fountain Terrace can carry either a ceremony or a full reception for up to 180. The Grange is the most popular of the wedding venues here, taking 120 for a banquet or cocktail reception with distinctive architecture, a private dining room and its own bar. MacArthur’s Ballroom is the largest room on the property and seats 180 for a banquet, so bigger guest lists are handled indoors without splitting the group.
Catering is provided in-house across the ceremony and reception packages, and a dedicated team of wedding specialists covers styling, coordination and support. Couples who would rather not source every supplier themselves can draw on the resort’s extensive network of florists, photographers and audio-visual partners. All 4.2 hectares of grounds are available for photography, and with accommodation on site guests have nowhere to drive at the end of the night. The combination of a riverfront glass chapel, indoor and outdoor reception spaces and resort accommodation makes InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort an outstanding Gold Coast wedding venue.
