Fairlawn Estate is a private, gated estate on the banks of the Vasse River at Bovell, in the Margaret River Wine Region. Its Victorian Georgian homestead was built circa 1840 for John and Georgiana Molloy as the first dwelling in the district, and has been restored over three generations by the Walker family. Rebecca and Alexander Walker run the estate today, set on a 2000 acre working farm with three acres of gardens.
The homestead and the adjoining heritage listed Bishop Hales Cottage hold 1000m2 of jarrah floors, with a historic ballroom and fireplace, a dining hall with a 16 seat jarrah table, two cocktail lounges, a library and conservatory, and seven bedrooms. Couples choose from multiple ceremony and reception locations, and the gardens change colour through all four seasons, giving a different backdrop at any time of year.
Weddings start from a blank canvas, from a large marquee wedding under the stars to a small, intimate elopement in the cocktail room or ballroom. Fairlawn Estate is not tied to any caterer, so couples bring their own, and each wedding nominates an event planner, who may be the couple themselves, to coordinate suppliers on the day. Couples and their families can also stay in the homestead.
