About Smallwater Estate
Smallwater Estate is a boutique family winery on the eastern side of the Geographe Wine Region, a few kilometres south of Donnybrook. John Small and his late wife Robyn planted it in 1993 as a marron farm and vineyard, and the estate's own wines followed from 2006. Couples hire the remote property for 24 hours, so they and their guests have the place to themselves.
Ceremonies are held at the lakeside location or at one of several rustic spots around the estate, with views over natural bushland, the vineyard and the marron-filled lake. Receptions can be a cocktail-style meal on the deck, a sit-down dinner in the restaurant, or a styled marquee with a dance floor and festoon lighting. Guests can camp on site with their own gear, and glamping can be arranged.
The estate takes care of most of the planning. Its packages bundle hand-selected local suppliers, including a celebrant, ceremony set-up, florist, four hours of photography, lawn games, cake and a DJ and MC, and Smallwater manages the bookings and payments for them all. An event planner runs the pre-booking tour and the logistics on the day, and the licensed bar pours the estate's award-winning wines. Compare it with the other Western Australian wedding venues.
