A converted red-brick warehouse housing an Italian restaurant and The Workshop, an exclusive-hire event space with exposed steel beams, crystal chandelier, jade marble bar and polished concrete.
Housed in a converted red-brick warehouse at Coorparoo in Brisbane, Factory51 leaves the bones of the building on show. Exposed steel beams and polished concrete floors sit beneath a crystal chandelier and beside a jade green marble bar, an industrial shell dressed in something considerably more glamorous. The warehouse also holds an Italian restaurant, but The Workshop is hired exclusively, and the ceremony happens in that same room, set chapel-style with seating, a signing table and AV arranged as part of the setup.
The venue accommodates up to 180 guests, with The Workshop seating 153 for dinner or holding 180 for a cocktail reception. Once vows are exchanged, a velvet curtain is drawn across the room while the team resets it, and guests move out to the private laneway and marble bar for canapes and drinks, which is also when photographs are taken. The curtain then opens on the reception. Exclusive use runs all day from 10am with five hours of staffed venue hire, and there is no separate venue hire fee on top.
Catering is in-house only. Executive Chef Bruce McKenna and his team prepare every menu, external caterers are not permitted, and the one thing couples may bring is their own cake. The licensed bar is staffed by the venue team, with no general BYO beyond case-by-case exceptions for something special. A dedicated event manager plans the wedding and runs it on the day, and the hire covers timber tables and trestles, 156 folding chairs, bar stools and ottomans, glassware, cutlery and crockery, two projectors, a sound system, microphone and festoon lighting. There is no accommodation on site. The combination of warehouse character, an in-house kitchen and fully exclusive hire makes Factory51 an outstanding industrial wedding venue.
