A family-run lakeside retreat in bushland near Bunbury, with a lakeside amphitheatre, a timber and stone function centre and on-site cabins and apartments for weddings of up to 150 guests.
Evedon Lakeside Retreat in Burekup brings the ceremony, reception, catering, drinks and accommodation together in one place, set among natural bushland with views across the lake. Tony and Merilyn Jenour bought the property in 1963 and farmed it before opening Evedon Park Bush Resort in 1984 with six units overlooking the lake. It has since grown to 16 accommodation units, a function centre and a restaurant, with 40 years of experience behind its weddings.
Couples can exchange vows in the lakeside amphitheatre, arriving across the bridge, or choose the lawns by the restaurant or a spot at the water's edge. Drinks and canapés follow in the gardens, on the verandas or in the alfresco area overlooking the lake. The function centre has polished timber floors, exposed beams, natural stone and lake views, and seats up to 90 guests, with up to 150 for a cocktail celebration across the indoor and outdoor spaces.
A timber staircase in the function centre makes a natural entrance for the newly married couple, and receptions can also move out under the stars on the lakeside lawns with room for a band or DJ. Six lakeside cabins and ten two-storey apartments sleep up to 70 guests, each self-contained with air conditioning, a slow combustion fire and a full kitchen. In-house catering, beverage packages, mini, midweek and ceremony-only packages are offered. Compare it with the other Western Australian wedding venues.
