Set on a private three-hectare cove on Long Island, Elysian Retreat is an adults-only, fully solar-powered escape with the entire island given over to one wedding at a time. Turquoise water, rainforest and the Coral Sea frame the property on every side, and with a maximum of 20 guests the celebration unfolds in complete privacy. Couples can exchange vows barefoot on the beach, in a sheltered garden framed by rainforest, or on the waterfront deck as the sun sets over the Whitsundays.
The retreat accommodates up to 20 guests across 10 oceanfront villas, making it an exceptional choice for elopements and intimate weddings. Three ceremony settings sit within a few minutes’ walk of one another, and styling, florals and setup are included with each. The waterfront deck flows naturally from ceremony to cocktails, dinner and dancing in the same beautiful spot, so the celebration carries on uninterrupted into the evening.
Elysian’s team looks after every detail, from ceremony setup and catering to private water transfers, morning yoga, spa access and guest activities. Reception menus are prepared in-house by award-winning chefs using fresh seasonal produce sourced locally and organically, with cocktails, craft beer and boutique wine included in the island wedding package. Couples may arrange their own celebrant or be introduced to trusted celebrants the retreat works with regularly, including Donna, one of Elysian’s own skippers, who can perform ceremonies under sail or in a secluded cove. The team can also recommend photographers and hair and makeup artists, provide a staff member to act as a witness for pared-back ceremonies, and allow couples booking villas at standard rates to add a celebrant and other extras at cost.
