Reaching Daydream Island means a flight into the Whitsundays and a ferry across turquoise water, and that journey sets the tone for the whole celebration. The resort has the Coral Sea on every side, so guests arrive for a few days together rather than an afternoon in a function room. Ceremonies can be held at Lovers Cove, a secluded oceanfront setting surrounded by lush palms, inside a non-denominational chapel with a floor-to-ceiling glass wall at the altar framing the Whitsunday Passage, or outside on the open-air Chapel Deck.
The resort accommodates up to 100 guests. Lovers Cove seats 60 and doubles as a reception setting, the chapel seats 40, and the Chapel Deck seats 20 with standing room for a further 40. Receptions move to the top-floor Horizon Room, which looks across to South Molle Island, seats 170 for a banquet, holds 300 for cocktails and divides into two rooms, so the space can be scaled to the size of the celebration rather than the other way around.
Catering is handled in-house by the resort, which removes the need for marquees or off-site caterers shipped across the water, and a dedicated on-site coordinator works alongside couples at every stage on logistics, timeline and styling. Couples can bring their own celebrant or choose from a recommended list. Styling sits inside the packages, along with return ferry transfers, discounted guest accommodation, daily buffet breakfast and a complimentary night in the Serenity Suite when three nights are booked. The combination of island seclusion, ceremony settings on the water and packages that absorb the travel makes Daydream Island Resort an outstanding Whitsundays wedding venue.
