Spread across 80 acres of Lockyer Valley farmland near Laidley, Branell Homestead sits about an hour west of Brisbane and is handed over to one wedding at a time. The setting is rural in the unforced sense, open paddocks and established gardens around a homestead that has long since settled into its surrounds. Couples choose between two ceremony lawns, the Homestead Lawn and the Pavilion Lawn, with the ceremony offered as an add-on to a reception booking and ceremony furniture hired separately.

The property works on a flat venue-hire fee with no per-person cost, so the budget does not climb with the guest list. Receptions are held under cover in the Lakeside Pavilion, while the full 80 acres are given over for exclusive use, leaving room for photographs, lawn games and quiet corners between the formalities. The Homestead sleeps seven adults across its suites, with a separate cabin as well, and two nights in the whole homestead are booked alongside the venue hire.

Branell runs as a dry-hire, self-catered property, which places the styling, the food and the drinks entirely in the couple’s hands. Any caterer is welcome, and a list of caterers who have worked on the property before is offered as a starting point rather than a restriction. Alcohol is fully BYO with no corkage and no additional charges, an unusual freedom that rewards couples happy to organise more of the day themselves.
