Set across 150 acres of Darling Downs farming country, Bracknell Lodge is a family-owned boutique venue built around a genuine piece of local history. The original Wyreema Anglican Church, raised in 1904, is now in the lodge’s care and serves as its chapel, with an industrial-style barn and landscaped grounds completing the picture. Couples can exchange vows inside the 1904 chapel or outdoors across the grounds, where two 66-year-old pines stand beside the original homestead among water features and designed gardens.
The venue accommodates up to 150 guests, seated for the reception in the Industrial Barn, a renovated space lit with extensive fairy lighting and served by two outdoor bars for the parts of the night that spill outside. The chapel handles ceremonies, and the grounds open up 150 acres for outdoor vows and photography, with everything sitting within a short walk so the day moves easily from one setting to the next. Accommodation on site for up to 40 overnight guests means the celebration can stretch across a weekend rather than a single evening.
Catering is not arranged in-house at Bracknell Lodge, so couples organise their own caterer, and the venue provides a list of local suppliers as a starting point. Beverages are BYO, with the two outdoor bars, chilling facilities and ice provided, which keeps the drinks budget entirely in the couple’s hands. Hire covers a generous amount besides: reception seating for 150, decorating props, a wishing well, card box and photo booth, a jukebox loaded with more than 3,500 songs, and sound systems and microphones for bands and speeches. The combination of a historic 1904 chapel, flexible BYO arrangements and on-site accommodation makes Bracknell Lodge an outstanding country wedding venue.
