A wonderful surprise find. With the place to ourselves we were able to enjoy the art and a tasting. Lovely hosts, and we didn't leave empty handed having enjoyed a wonderful selection of wines. A great find, we will spread the word. Fiona

Magpie Springs
A working vineyard with a rustic homestead and cellar door on Willunga Hill, offered as dry hire with ceremonies in the garden or down by the dam among the vines.
About Magpie Springs
Magpie Springs is a working vineyard on Willunga Hill, in the centre of the Fleurieu Peninsula, halfway between Victor Harbor and Adelaide and a short drive from McLaren Vale. There is a rustic homestead and cellar door, a spacious garden surrounded by vines, and a dam, and the property is deliberately off the beaten track.
Ceremonies and receptions are held either in the garden or down by the dam, both surrounded by vines. Couples can hire a portion of the property or the whole of it. If you book only part while the cellar door is open, other visitors may be on site, so the whole-property option is the one to take for privacy.
This is a dry hire venue, and Magpie Springs is straightforward about what that means: they provide the venue and the wine, and everything else is a blank slate. They are not function planners, but once you are booked in you receive an extensive list of event providers who have worked on site before, covering celebrants, planners, function hire equipment such as tables, chairs, marquees and lighting, photographers, videographers, MCs, caterers and florists. You are equally welcome to bring your own. The estate's boutique wines are expected to be used on the day. One practical note from the venue: it gets chilly on top of Willunga Hill once the sun goes down, so guests should bring a jacket even in summer. Magpie Springs appears in our guide to wedding venues in South Australia, where you can compare it against other McLaren Vale properties on guest numbers, style and price band before you enquire.
