1837 Barossa is a winery at Lyndoch, at the southern gateway to the Barossa Valley, with a history it traces to the birthplace of the region. The estate carries a good deal beyond the cellar door: a Mediterranean restaurant and grill, the Colonel William Light Monument, an art trail, and luxury cottages on site.
There are two wedding venues, chosen by size. The 1837 Barossa Restaurant is the larger, styled as classical elegance with French antiques: 70 persons inside, and 150 in the covered Colonel Light Plaza with its marble gazebo. Ceremonies there seat up to 150 with views over the winery, and the reception area handles anything from an intimate sit-down to 150 guests. The Cellar Door and Pavilion is the more intimate option, ultra-modern with a grand Roman terrace, holding 50 persons for either the ceremony or the reception.
Food differs between the two: Mediterranean cuisine and grill at the restaurant, freshly made pizzas, platters and casual entrees at the cellar door. A special wedding and large group function menu is available at both, and the estate is explicit about working to a couple's budget on food and wine packages.
