Justin Crane is an authorised civil marriage celebrant, event host and MC based in Melbourne, and the founder of Just In Love Weddings and Events. Justin started the business believing that getting married should never feel like a clinical transaction at a government registry office. A background in public education and a stint at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival mean Justin is at ease in front of any crowd, and couples in the testimonials keep mentioning a relaxed manner and a great sense of humour.
There are three main ways to work with Justin. The Intimate Elopement is a registry-style, legals-only ceremony of around five minutes, held wherever you like. The Signature Simple Ceremony runs for about 20 minutes and weaves your story into a personalised script. The Married by a Friend option, which Justin calls the Friendly I Do, lets a loved one lead the storytelling while Justin coaches them and steps in for the legal vows, signatures and lodgement.
Planning starts with a 15-minute Zoom or phone call to check you are a good match. Once you book, Justin sends a digital agreement and a secure link for your Notice of Intended Marriage details, then builds your ceremony with you in a shared Google Doc so you can edit the wording in real time. On the day Justin arrives early to coordinate with your venue and photographer, brings a wireless battery-powered PA and can supply a signing table and chairs.
Ceremonies can happen in a backyard, a park, a cafe or a winery, and Justin can often fit in short-notice weddings. Justin travels across Melbourne, the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, Macedon Ranges, City of Casey and Latrobe Valley, and on to Gippsland, Geelong and Warrnambool. For footy fans there are weekend pre-game ceremonies and game-day weddings near the MCG, Marvel Stadium or AAMI Park. Justin also helps with vow writing and can MC your reception.
