Jen Lawrie-Smith has been an authorised marriage celebrant since 2003 and holds the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Civil Ceremonies) from Monash University, training she credits for her excellent writing and presentation skills, and her ability to weave in elements from other cultures if necessary.

Every ceremony is written for the individual couple rather than cut and pasted from someone else’s or AI generated. Jen provides unlimited phone and email contact after the first meeting (which can be in person or online), plenty of helpful material on vows and how to think deeply about your ceremony and your marriage, and a relaxed rehearsal if you want one. She arrives early to liaise with your venue, photographer, musicians and guests ensuring you get her unhurried attention.

On the wedding day she can bring a battery-powered MIPRO PA system with a headset and separate hand-held mic, or a BOSE sound dock for your music, and she dresses beautifully to suit your style. A former critical care nurse, she is also a calm presence if anything unexpected happens.

Jen is open to the needs and plans of all couples, providing support and guidance as needed, and she encourages creativity! She often helps interstate and overseas couples by email or online. She has conducted hundreds of weddings in large and small venues ranging from Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges to the Yarra Valley, many coastal locations, and in the beautiful venues, parks and gardens in the Melbourne CBD.

She is the former President of the Civil Celebrants Graduate Association (Monash) and is currently a member of the Association of Civil Marriage Celebrants of Victoria. This ensures her public liability cover and professional development are up to date. Along with weddings, Jen also enjoys celebrating vow renewals, funerals and a range of other ceremonies.
