Charis White Celebrant & Co is the business of Charis White, a full time celebrant based in Northcote who marries couples across Melbourne and beyond. She describes herself as a storyteller first, and every ceremony is personally written around the couple. Before becoming a celebrant her background was in performance and public speaking, including singing with Opera Australia and Victorian Opera, which shapes the confident, warm way she delivers a ceremony.
Planning starts with a free consultation and a questionnaire for each partner, followed by a ceremony guide with examples of readings, vows and ring exchanges. Charis offers a free rehearsal at her home, can help write or fully write your vows, and handles the legal paperwork and registration with Births, Deaths and Marriages. Couples receive a commemorative certificate and a name change guide, and she also offers elopements and simple legals only ceremonies.
On the day Charis arrives 30 minutes early to liaise with readers, photographers, venue staff and musicians, brings a PA system with a wireless microphone, and moves around so she is not in every photo. Her real wedding stories include ceremonies at Rupert on Rupert in Collingwood and Stones of the Yarra Valley. Alongside weddings she works as a funeral and memorial celebrant.
