Fiona Garrivan is an Irish-born Melbourne celebrant who has been creating heartfelt, engaging wedding ceremonies since 2010, from the city to the Yarra Valley and Bass Coast.
Fiona Garrivan is an Irish-born marriage celebrant who now calls Melbourne home and has been creating wedding ceremonies since 2010. Before celebrancy Fiona spent 12 years in the travel industry and has visited almost 30 countries, which explains a fascination with people from all walks of life and an open door for interstate and overseas destination wedding enquiries. Fiona's weddings have been featured by Easy Weddings, Hello May and Mr Theodore.
The aim is a heartfelt, engaging ceremony delivered with warmth and appropriate humour, avoiding generic, recycled 'Hallmark card' words. Plenty of couples start out saying they don't like being the centre of attention; Fiona's goal is for them to be too busy enjoying the ceremony to notice they are up the front. Ceremonies can be classic, traditional, contemporary or short and sweet, and some elements are kept as a surprise to add to the emotion on the day.
Planning starts with a no-obligation chat over Zoom, followed by the legal paperwork, a ceremony guide booklet with sample vows, readings and ideas, and a catch-up about eight weeks out to create the ceremony together. The service fee covers unlimited phone and email contact, travel within 50 km of Melbourne, lodgement of your paperwork, a professional PA system, an optional rehearsal and a presentation certificate on the day. Fiona performs only one ceremony per day.
On the day Fiona is as much a calm pair of hands as a celebrant: fixing dresses, catching veils, pinning corsages, stashing tissues and checking the best man has the rings, with children and pets welcome in the ceremony. Fiona covers Melbourne, the Yarra Valley and the Bass Coast, where venues such as RACV Inverloch, Churchill Island and Chapter Barn are listed, and also marries eloping couples across Victoria, supplying the two witnesses if needed.
