About Weddings by Julia

Weddings by Julia is the celebrancy of Julia, a civil marriage celebrant on the Sunshine Coast. Julia was born and grew up in Sydney, met the man who became Julia's husband on a holiday to Hayman Island in the Whitsundays and settled in Mackay before moving to the Sunshine Coast. Julia describes being a celebrant as a passion for life, and loves talking, laughing and meeting people, with a never-give-up attitude and a habit of always looking on the bright side.

Julia sees the role as a journey with each couple from the first meeting, shaping your ideas and your love story into a personalised, romantic ceremony. Couples can choose from sample ceremonies, adapt them or write their own, and add readings, poems, music, cultural symbols or rituals such as a sand ceremony, unity candle, rose ceremony, ring warming or hand blessing. Julia also suggests including how you met, for a bit of laughter.

Meetings are held at Julia's office at home on the Sunshine Coast, with Zoom and email for couples living interstate or overseas. On the day Julia can bring a professional portable PA with wireless microphones, dresses to suit the style of your wedding and arrives early to sound check and set up. You receive a presentation certificate and a copy of your ceremony as a keepsake, and Julia lodges the registration within 14 days.

Alongside weddings, Julia conducts commitment ceremonies, renewals of vows, naming ceremonies and other occasions such as house blessings. Julia states full support for same-sex marriage and welcomes couples of every kind. Ceremonies are offered across the Sunshine Coast, with travel between Noosa and Morayfield included in the service and additional fees possibly applying further afield.
