About We Play Records
We Play Records is a collective of vinyl DJs with a vintage look and a retro twist. The crew was started by Nik, known behind the decks as Vinyl Richie, as an outlet to share his love of music and his ever-growing record collection. Their sets draw on vinyl from the 50s through the 00s and beyond, and the DJs can smoothly mix in digital sources when a song is not on record.
The signature look comes from vintage hifi displays built from original stereo cabinets, styled with album covers and mid-century furniture, so the DJ booth becomes a talking point rather than a laptop in the corner. The crew offers both DJ and MC services, and couples can hand over a detailed playlist, a shortlist of favourites or simply a general feel for the night.
For weddings, We Play Records can cover just the reception or the whole day, from music as guests arrive for the ceremony through cocktail hour, dinner and the dance floor, with sound production included. The crew takes pride in an inclusive mix that gets every generation dancing, and serves Sydney, the South Coast, the Illawarra and the Southern Highlands.
