About The Nonsense Maker

The Nonsense Maker began in 2016 as the alter ego of Melbourne artist Emily May, and grew into a brand with business partner Sidonie Moore. From a studio in Brunswick they make Australian-made greeting cards, art prints, tea towels and gifts, and a range of wedding invitations that brings a fun, playful element to the day. Each design is hand drawn with a fine point pen, then digitally coloured.

The wedding range is organised into collections: Native Wreath, Banquet, Floral Vine, Birds and Balloons, Keepsakes and a Mix and Match set. Most collections include an invitation, details card, RSVP and wishing well card, with thank you cards and complete sets also available. Invitations are customised and printed to order on lightly textured 320gsm paper that is 40 per cent recycled, and the team helps couples write and format their wording.

Ordering happens online: couples choose a design, add the cards they need, then receive a draft to approve, and invitations generally ship about a week after the wording is confirmed. A sample pack can be posted or collected from the Brunswick studio, and digital save the dates and engagement invitations are offered too. Small design changes and matching extras such as signs and table numbers are possible on request.

We needed a digital 21st invitation able to be sent by text as my son did not know his friends email addresses or if they even had an email address. The cute celebratory champagne bottle design got the message across. The invitation was available immediately to edit. We were able to enter our…
