Sam Johns is a marriage celebrant and wedding MC based in Brunswick Heads, just north of Byron Bay. His whole approach is built on the idea that the best ceremonies should not feel like performances. He spends time getting to know each couple, their story and the people who matter most to them, then commits the ceremony to memory so he can deliver it naturally instead of reading from a script or a screen.
That lets him look at you when he is talking to you, look at your parents when he is talking about them, and read the room: landing the laughs and letting the important moments breathe. Sam describes his style as relaxed, personal and genuine, and says he likes a ceremony to feel more like a story being shared than a speech being read.
His background is a varied one. Sam is a psychology graduate, the son of a preacher, and a former live music venue owner. He has spruiked crowds on busy streets, made announcements over airport loudspeakers, served as vice president of his local Toastmasters club, and even spent time as Robin from Batman and Robin at Movie World. He says every one of those roles taught him that people are endlessly interesting.
Sam offers a legal-only ceremony, an intimate package for smaller guest numbers and a full ceremony package for larger weddings, which includes his Bose wireless PA so every guest can hear. As an MC he builds a detailed run sheet, coordinates with your venue and vendors, and keeps the night on time. His Complete Package combines celebrant and MC at a discount, and an MC Helper option supports a friend or family member who has been asked to MC.
