Adrian Downey is an authorised civil marriage celebrant and NSW Justice of the Peace who trades as NSW Celebrant. He was born and raised in the Hills district of North Western Sydney and has long been involved in the local community, playing soccer, cricket and baseball for Carlingford over many years. His About page says he has been a celebrant for fourteen years and a JP for nineteen, and his outlook is that life is to be enjoyed, not endured.
Adrian describes himself as relaxed, easy going and affordable, and says no two of his ceremonies are the same. Couples usually meet him at least twice: once to sight documents, lodge the Notice of Intended Marriage and start designing the ceremony, and again closer to the day to finalise details and rehearse if needed. Once a booking is confirmed, couples get a login to his client resources area, with sample ceremonies, vows and readings to help personalise every part.
On the day he supplies a PA system so everyone can hear, and can bring a small fold up table for park and beach weddings. He holds public liability insurance and can provide the certificate to venues or councils. As an online celebrant with NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages, he registers the marriage on the day of the wedding or the day after. Adrian is a member of Australian Marriage Celebrants Inc and the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants, and his fact sheet lists him as an ABIA finalist for NSW celebrants. Alongside weddings he conducts namings, renewals of vows, commitment ceremonies and funerals. He travels across greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Wollongong, the Central Coast and the Southern Highlands up to the Hunter Valley.
