Michael Briggs, known to most as Briggsy, is a wedding photographer born and bred in the Yarra Valley, and he has photographed nearly 1000 weddings. His work is natural, bright, fun and energetic, with honest coverage of the whole day. Rather than standing quietly in a corner, he gets in amongst the celebration, and guests often take him for an old friend of the couple rather than the hired photographer.
Couple portraits are kept quick and relaxed. Briggsy asks for two or three windows of about 15 minutes for couple and wedding party photos, so couples spend most of the day celebrating with their guests, and he balances the obligatory family photos with candid moments. Couples who feel they are not good at photos get gentle guidance, and full real weddings are shared on his website rather than just highlights.
Based in the Yarra Valley, with a workspace at Eastland in Ringwood, he photographs weddings across the Yarra Valley, Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, coastal and country Victoria, and travels interstate a few times a year. Recent weddings include Re'em Yarra Valley, Tokar Estate and Log Cabin Ranch in the Dandenongs. Fine art albums, engagement and proposal photos are also offered.
