Perth wedding photographer Mel Silva has been capturing timeless, natural wedding imagery since establishing her business in 2010.
Mel Silva Photography is the Perth wedding business of Mel Silva, who established it in 2010 and has since documented hundreds of weddings. Her work is described as timeless, natural and beautiful imagery. Mel completed a Diploma of Photography, and her love of the craft began with film, developing her own black and white prints in the darkroom from 2003, which she credits with shaping her attention to detail.
Mel's focus is on helping couples feel comfortable in front of the camera, knowing when to step in with posing direction and when to step back and let a moment happen. She keeps an eye on the timeline, helps plan portrait timing, sunset sessions and family photos, and aims to keep couples from spending hours away from their guests. To give each couple personal attention, she caps her wedding bookings at 20 a year.
Alongside weddings, Mel photographs engagement sessions and runs a separate boudoir brand, Mel Silva Boudoir. Micro weddings and elopements are catered for too, with coverage from as little as two hours. Before settling in Perth in 2019, she was named the Australian Institute of Professional Photography's NT Travel Photographer of the Year in 2016.
