Marry Me Nicky is the celebrant business of Nicky Surnicky, based in Sydney's Sutherland Shire. Nicky was appointed as a Commonwealth civil marriage celebrant in late 2014 and has since married nearly 500 couples. She started Marry Me Nicky to create fun and engaging ceremonies full of laughs and feels, after watching too many friends get married in a dull way. She conducts only one ceremony a day.
Rather than handing couples a questionnaire, Nicky gets to know them through relaxed chats and builds the ceremony around their story. Couples choose between a fully personalised ceremony with a draft, rehearsal, vow writing support, printed vow cards and Bose PA systems, a smaller elopement ceremony, or a simple legals only ceremony. She marries couples of every sexuality and gender, and welcomes couples planning from overseas.
Over half of Nicky's weddings are outside Sydney, and she regularly travels to the South Coast, Southern Highlands, Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, Mudgee and other parts of regional NSW. She has married couples on the steps of the Sydney Opera House, on boats on Sydney Harbour, at wineries, beaches, glasshouses, farms and backyards.
