Julie Muir is an award-winning, Dublin-born Newcastle celebrant known for fun, heartfelt ceremonies and bilingual weddings across the Hunter Valley and beyond.
Julie Muir, known to most couples as Jules, is a Newcastle marriage celebrant who grew up in Dublin and describes herself as the whiskey-drinking, yarn-spinning, belly-laughing celebrant. Her celebrancy began after her own wedding, when she wrote a meaningful civil ceremony herself and loved the process so much she decided to make it her work. Her site says she has now married more than 400 couples.
Before celebrancy, Julie built a career in sports event management, which she credits for being super organised and detail focused. She speaks Irish, Spanish, French and some Italian, and has been learning Auslan, so couples with family overseas or deaf guests can have a sprinkling of another language in their ceremony. She will travel anywhere in Australia for a bilingual wedding.
Her services cover full weddings, elopements and legals-only registry-style weddings, plus vow renewals, vow writing help, marriage preparation and MC work. For weddings she brings a BOSE PA system, dresses to suit your palette and orders your marriage certificate. She also plants a native tree through Carbon Positive Australia for every booking.
Julie lists a long run of industry recognition on her site, including Quality Business Awards Best Celebrant NSW for 2025 and 2026 and a 2024 Lux Global Wedding Award for Best Wedding Celebrant Newcastle and Hunter Valley.
