About Inner Radiance

Inner Radiance is the celebrancy business of Sudesh Johar, known to many couples as Sue, a civil marriage celebrant serving Sydney, Western Sydney and the Hills District who is happy to travel. Before celebrancy she spent many years in accounting, auditing, sales and marketing. Her lightbulb moment came as a guest at a celebrant-led wedding held in a couple's own home in Sydney, where she saw what a truly personalised ceremony could look and feel like. She trained as a marriage and family celebrant through AQT of Celebrancy with Keith Lammond.

Sudesh specialises in Indian and cross-cultural weddings, crafting ceremonies that honour your traditions while reflecting your own love story. Ceremonies can be conducted in English, Hindi or Punjabi, or a mix of all three, and she can put you in touch with a qualified translator for other languages. Rituals listed on her Indian weddings page include puja or aarti, the garland ceremony, havan and the rice shower, and one couple describes a ceremony with garlanding and the saptapadi, the seven steps.

She works to what she calls her three Cs: customisation, collaboration and celebration, listening for the cultural rituals and traditions that matter to you. Her experience runs from two and a half minute legal ceremonies to heavily staged, theatrical affairs, and her service includes a rehearsal and a guaranteed back-up celebrant so your ceremony goes ahead no matter what. She asks every couple to start with a short, informal and obligation-free meeting to make sure everyone has a good rapport.

Beyond weddings, Sudesh conducts same love weddings, vow renewals, commitment ceremonies and baby namings, and offers MC services for receptions, birthdays and anniversaries. She credits her accounting and auditing background for her professional, courteous approach. Outside celebrancy she serves as a Justice of the Peace and teaches ethics and human values to children, and she supports the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the NSW Rural Fire Service, free medical camps in Fiji and Clean Up Australia Day.
