About Geelong Botanic Gardens
Established in 1851 and set within heritage-listed Eastern Park, the Geelong Botanic Gardens are among Victoria's oldest botanic gardens and a multiple winner of the Wedding Industry Awards Ceremony Location category. Managed by the City of Greater Geelong, the gardens blend mature trees, rare and unusual plantings and manicured lawns into one of the region's most cherished garden wedding venues in Victoria.
Couples choose from a number of distinct ceremony lawns, each hired for exclusive use so only one event runs at a time. Smaller lawns such as the Rose Garden Lawn suit intimate gatherings, while larger lawns like the Bunya Lawn and the 21st Century Garden accommodate up to 150 guests. Bookings are made through the council's online enquiry form, and each hire includes chairs and a signing table.
The gardens are a beloved backdrop for wedding and family photography, which needs no booking for personal occasions. To keep the setting natural, music comes from acoustic or battery-powered devices and marquees and confetti aren't permitted; receptions are held off-site, with plenty of Geelong waterfront and city venues close by, and the Visitor Centre offers shelter if the weather turns.
