Faces Makeup & Hair is a Sydney team of mobile makeup artists and hair stylists who describe themselves as bridal specialists. Founder and principal Stella trained in makeup at the Academy of Makeup and in hair at Showface Studio, then worked as a makeup artist at Mecca Cosmetica and as a bridal consultant before building the team. The site is clear that this is not an agency sending whoever lives closest, but a close knit team chosen on strict criteria.
Their philosophy is that a bride should walk down the aisle looking like herself, so the team enhances natural features rather than repeating one look on everyone. Each senior stylist has at least eight years in the industry, and kits include Gorgeous Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, NARS and MAC. Stella holds a doctorate in biological sciences, which shows in a strict hygiene routine of disposable wands and sanitised brushes. Every makeup service includes a full set of false lashes.
Brides can book makeup, hair or both for themselves, bridesmaids, mothers and guests, with separate makeup and hair trials and on site touch ups during the day. The team has been a regular NSW finalist in the Australian Bridal Industry Academy awards for makeup and hair, placing third for makeup in 2013. Most couples enquire 9 to 12 months ahead, and the stylists come to you.
