Coral Kortlepel is a full-time Sydney marriage celebrant based in Gymea Bay who has been performing wedding ceremonies since 1994 and has a string of ABIA celebrant awards to her name.
Coral Kortlepel became a civil marriage celebrant in 1994 and has been a Justice of the Peace since 1996. Working from Gymea Bay in the Sutherland Shire, she describes herself as one of the very few full-time professional celebrants and says she has married thousands of couples all over Sydney. She is a member of the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants and the Association of Authorised Marriage Celebrants Australia, and has appeared on national television, including Sunrise and the Today show.
Every couple is offered a ceremony format with 18 different ceremonies, 34 vows and 15 ring exchanges to choose from, with room for poems, readings, prayers and blessings. Beyond the traditional service there are extracts from religious and spiritual traditions, tea, candle and rose ceremonies, handfasting, ring warming and inclusions for parents and for children from previous relationships. None of it is compulsory, and Coral is just as happy to help couples write their own vows while she looks after the legal requirements.
Her site lists ceremony venues from Gunners Barracks, Dunbar House and The Mint to Centennial Parklands, Little Bay Chapel and Jaspers at Berry, and she is a fan of simple mid-week weddings in the North Sydney reserves with their harbour views. She also arranges weddings for overseas couples, performs same-sex marriages, commitment ceremonies and renewals of vows, and won the ABIA award for Best Celebrant in NSW in 2014 and the 2015 Designer of Dreams Best Celebrant in Australia award.
