Big Thanks Band is a Sydney wedding band that plays the whole day, from acoustic ceremony music through dinner sets to a full band with a horn section on the dance floor.
Big Thanks Band is a group of Sydney musicians who specialise in wedding ceremonies, receptions and corporate entertainment. The line-up scales to suit each wedding, from a subtle solo acoustic performer through to the full band of male and female lead singers, bass, drums, piano and a full horn section. For more delicate ceremonies they can add a string section of orchestral players, and the repertoire runs from swing and jazz to rock and roll, funk, soul, pop classics and the latest hits.
The acoustic duo of James and Bobo forms the backbone of the band and sings lead in the full line-up. They often play the ceremony and canapés acoustically, covering the entrance, the signing of the register and the recessional, then switch to the full band for the reception. Dinner sets are kept quiet enough for guests to talk, and the band rehearses each couple's first dance song with them and will learn songs that are special to them for the ceremony.
Because the duo are also DJs, couples can move from live sets into DJ dance sets without booking a second act, with the PA, a dance party lighting rig and DJ equipment supplied. The band also offers an MC service and GoPro footage of the night filmed from the musicians' point of view. Most of their work is in the Sydney basin, and they also travel to the Hunter Valley, Newcastle, Wollongong, Bowral, the Blue Mountains, Orange and Dubbo.
