Ben Howland is a Newcastle wedding photographer with more than 600 weddings behind him, known for real emotion, quick portraits and a relaxed presence on the day.
Ben Howland is a wedding photographer based in Newcastle, working across Newcastle and the Hunter Valley and available to travel anywhere. He focuses on real emotion and anticipating what happens next, so his galleries are full of joyful faces rather than flat-lays or dresses hung in trees. Every photo in his portfolio comes from a real wedding with real couples, with no models or workshops, and he is at ease with camera-shy couples and every style, size and culture of wedding.
Ben started photographing weddings in 2010 and has now covered more than 600 of them over 16 years. His view is that it is a wedding, not a photo shoot: he organises the family groups and guides the portraits, then lets the day unfold, planning around 30 minutes for couple portraits plus 20 more with a wedding party. Rain does not slow him down, and couples often say their guests assumed he was a friend who happened to bring a camera.
Many of Ben's weddings are at Hunter Valley venues he knows well, including Adam's Peak Country Estate and Margan Wines at Broke, Tocal Homestead, Circa 1876 and Hanging Tree Wines. Coverage comes in two, four and nine hour options, and he also offers couple portrait sessions, family sessions and 10x10 inch wedding albums. He grew up in Gloucester and now lives in Cardiff with his wife Liv and their two kids.
