Always Classic Cars is a family owned business operating from 360 Elgar Road in Box Hill with well over 37 years in the hire car industry. The company was founded by the late Tom Roberts and is supported by Josie Roberts, with two generations of chauffeuring behind it. Its collection of prestige vintage vehicles, which it describes as Melbourne's biggest, runs from 1932 to 1975 and takes in Rolls-Royce, Bentley, convertible and stretched limousines, all kept on site for viewing by appointment.
The Rolls-Royces include a 1932 Rolls Royce known as Tommy, a 1935 Sedanca DeVille built for Lord Burghley, Silver Wraiths from 1947, 1949 and 1951, a 1960 and a 1961 Phantom V, and a 1968 Convertible. Beyond them sit a two-tone 1950 Bentley Coach Built Dawn, a seven passenger 1959 Austin Princess Limousine, a 1960 Bentley Cloud LWB first owned by King Hassan II of Morocco, a 1962 Bentley Cloud that appeared in the film The Eye of the Storm, and Rolls Royce stretch limousines for larger bridal parties.
Every booking comes with a fully uniformed chauffeur, wedding ribbon and lace on the parcel shelf, red carpet service, champagne glasses, water and umbrellas, and a bottle of Moscato or non-alcoholic apple cider. A minimum hire of three hours applies, chauffeurs are licensed under Safe Transport Victoria and Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria, and the cars travel to weddings across Melbourne and Victoria.
